Suitability analysis has been a well known GIS instrument to find “suitable” areas for different purposes like protected areas for a threatened species, or to locate a hospital. But it can also be used to get an idea of the vulnerability of the landscape or, in a complementary way, to find suitable areas for housing or locating wind-farms or solar plants where the measured values are low.

On this case study we integrated different georeferenced information sources like nesting bird atlas, wetland areas, European habitats of community interest, and the extremely useful map of land-use made by CREAF.

The outcome is a high resolution map (5m pixel size) of the Comarques de Girona Area (5.581 Km2).
